XRF Support Specialist

Working for a leading distributor of scientific equipment covering the UK and Ireland particularly in the field of XRF.

Following the rapid growth within the XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) part of our business, we are currently seeking a Customer Support Specialist who will primarily be working within this product range. The role may involve other similar products over time. As part of the role, travel with overnight stays to customers throughout the UK and Ireland will be required on a regular basis as well as occasional trips abroad for product training at manufacturer locations (mainly in the USA and Europe).

The role will involve customer support mainly from an application and training perspective as well as providing application support to the Product Managers as part of the commercial sales process running of customer samples and supporting product demonstrations). When required it will also involve service work in the support of our XRF field service engineers.
A successful candidate must have significant experience and in-depth knowledge of XRF and the desire to learn and develop an interest in other equipment supplied by the Company.

Key result areas:
- Become competent on the complete XRF product range offered by the company
- Ability to train the users and resolve all application related issues.
- Ability to run customer samples and write up application reports for pre-sale customer validation.
- Ability to respond to customer issues when required and support towards the resolution of the
same, using all relevant support structures.
- Ability to learn other techniques in which the company are active in.

The successful candidate's primary work location will be our laboratories in Stockport. Therefore a home location commutable to headquarters is required (possibly some home working flexibility).

Essential skills required:
- Minimum 5 years experience working with XRF, preferably at method development level.
- Experience of development and validation of analytical methodology.
- Minimum BSc level (chemistry, analytical sciences or physics), postgraduate qualification would be preferred. Candidates with lower academic education levels but with suitable experience (>10 years) in XRF will also be considered.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
- Willingness to travel.
- Flexibility. We are a small team and expect everyone to be prepared to adapt to new
circumstances.
- Readiness to deal with new challenges as the company circumstances changes.
