An ideal position for a recent life sciences or biomedical sciences graduate looking to use their degree in a scientific sales role!

The Technical Sales Advisor will be part of a team managing either the North and East Region or the South and West Region. Each team will also include the Technical Sales Manager and a Technical Sales Specialist. The Technical Sales Advisor will report directly to the Technical Sales Manager/UK Sales Manager and will be expected to work as part of the team to increase sales within their region. The role requires an enthusiastic, energetic, and ambitious individual who has the drive to work as part of a team and is willing to learn new sales skills. They will be mentored by the Technical Sales Manager and UK Sales Manager to develop their skill set with a view to using their own initiative to build relationships with customers and increase sales within their region. Since COVID-19 has increased the need to interact remotely, the power of video calls to connect with customers has surged. Digital interactions have increased 41 percent since the pandemic began, and online chat has increased 21 percent. One of the key roles of the Technical Sales Advisor will be to interact with customers remotely. This role therefore requires an individual who is very comfortable making cold calls and interacting with customers on the telephone, by email or via video call These are prime sales territories, comprising top academic research centres and many leading biotech companies who are looking to invest in the best new technologies. Job Duties
- Under the direction of the Technical Sales Manager/UK Sales Manager each team will be
responsible for all business in their region, the North and East region
includes Scotland, North England, East Midlands, East Anglia, Cambridge, East London and SE
England and the South and East region include Ireland, Wales, NW England, West Midlands,
Oxford, SW and S England and West London

- The team will be expected to grow business in this region by 10% per annum. The Technical
Sales Advisor will be expected to contribute to the growth of this business.
- The Technical Sales Advisor will be primarily office based (in Cambridge) and will assist their
team using appropriate sales techniques to protect existing business and to drive new sales
across the whole of the North and East Region. Customer contact will be mainly via email,
phone call or virtual meeting, including Teams and other video calling applications. There may
be requirement to operate in the field to support the sales team activities as required.
- Assisting in the management of opportunity pipelines from initial enquiries to close of
business across the full company product range including reagents, instruments
and biospecimens.
- As part of the team, one of the main roles of the Technical Sales Advisor will be to deal with
in bound sales enquiries and ensure that these are dealt with in a timely manner, helping their
team to convert inbound enquires into further conversations about the wider Cambridge
Bioscience portfolio.
- Serve as a direct link between the field sales team and the other office-based teams and
engage in specialised activities such as preparing quotations for blood products.
- Take part in sales team campaigns to promote products and services that that are of key
importance to the business and as guided by the UK Sales Manager,
marketing team, and the Business Management Team
- Be able to assist remotely with instrument demonstrations and installations via Teams or
other virtual applications
- Ensure all customer contacts, opportunities and other activities are logged into our CRM
system SalesForce.com within a timely manner and be prepared to report all activity to the
Technical Sales Manager/UK Sales Manager as required.
- Engage with all supplier and internal training courses including product training, sales training,
and other administrative training courses

Skills and Experience Required
- A life sciences degree with some practical laboratory experience
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in life science sales
- Enthusiasm to learn new skills including sales techniques
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills: via telephone, email, and video calls
- High level of self-motivation
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and implement activities effectively
