Service Manager - Laboratory Diagnostic equipment

This is an opportunity to join a specialist and well-established medical diagnostics company, whose pathology analysers are used to test and diagnose infectious and autoimmune diseases.

You will manage a small team of two Engineers & provide first and second line support for laboratory instrumentation, to NHS and private labs throughout the UK. This position will be primarily field based, but attendance at the Head Office in London will be required too.

The responsibilities as Service Manager are varied but key duties are below:

- Manage a small team of field-based Engineers, ensuring resource needs are met and performance targets upheld
- Motivate service team to be pro-active and help create a relaxed and happy working environment
- Take the lead on installation projects, working closely with service colleagues and commercial team
- Provide monthly reports on service activities & scheduled plans to Head of Service and ensure all daily activities are recorded in the CRM, with instrument movements updated
- Resolve technical issues with instrumentation and PC related products, both in the field and in the office
- Installation of laboratory instruments as required and train hospital staff in the use of instruments and applications
- Ensure all equipment is regularly serviced and software updates performed
- Ensure excellent communication, customer service and relationships with both internal colleagues and customers

Person Specification:
- An Electronic or Mechanical Engineering qualification, BTEC, HNC etc
- At least five years' experience working with instrumentation, ideally in a laboratory environment
- Experience managing or supervising staff is preferred
- Experience of generating and managing your daily schedule in a field-based setting
- Experience of significant daily travel to meet customer expectations
- Strong leadership skills, with a 'lead by example' attitude
- Ability to prioritise work, self-motivated and excellent communication skills
