Role Overview

Brilliant opportunity to enter the commercial industry and quickly progress as a Senior Scientist in a leading analytical organisation.

We are looking for a PhD or MSc educated scientist with technical experience in Polymer Surface Chemistry to join the team and support both the R&D and Manufacturing functions of the business!

Reporting to the R&D Director of Analytical Product and Application Development. You will work as part of a team in the development of new media for subsequent product development. You will be experienced in Polymer/Surface Chemistry and have the ability to identify, review and provide solutions to chemistry process related problems in both manufacturing and R&D.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities:

-Provide project input for consumable product development programmes.
-Design and implement chemistry synthesis for new development products.
-Report project status and deviations to project group at regular intervals
-To co-ordinate activities with project and line managers.
-To effectively plan resources for the projects, to agreed timelines.
-Adhere to the Company's quality assurance Policies and Procedures.
-Adhere to all health and Safety requirements. Ensure all statutory obligations are met.
-Build up and maintain external networks and keep abreast of new chemistry methodologies.
-Maintain and be aware of Competitor Intellectual Property and its potential impact on media development
-Where possible create appropriate intellectual property on key inventions.
-Actively maintain and update COSSH assessments within the polymer lab.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training:
-Ph.D., Msc or equivalent in Chemistry.
-A number of years of practical experience in organic and /inorganic/Polymer chemistry.
-Thorough, in-depth knowledge of relevant polymer chemistry, surface chemistry and associated literature.
-Good communication skills, both written and oral to influence at all levels.
-Ability to inspire and motivate others within the group.
-Good all round I.T skills
