Wiggly-Amps acquired by Boots to help online presence

Wiggly-Amps, a health technology company, has been acquired by Boots UK to allow patients to order prescriptions online by linking with their GP records.

Boots’ Pharmacy Director, Richard Bradley, said: “At Boots UK we are always looking for ways to develop the role of community pharmacy and make things simpler and quicker for our customers and patients. We have a strong history of innovation, responding to meet the evolving needs of our customers, providing new products and services and supporting our colleagues to deliver these. It’s an exciting time for the future of pharmacy and this announcement is just one of the ways we are strengthening the development of our digital healthcare ambitions.”

All healthcare products and services previously delivered by Wiggly-Amps Ltd. will now be wholly owned and delivered by two new companies, Engage Health Systems Ltd and Little Green Button Ltd. All current staff and directors remain in place in the North Walsham offices. Jon Witte, managing director of the newly formed Engage Health Systems, said: “The acquisition of Wiggly-Amps Ltd by Boots UK serves as a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the Wiggly-Amps team in developing innovative software and architecture. As the market leader, Boots UK have the scale and reputation to make the best use of this software and we look forward to working with Boots UK to help them fulfil their vision of creating an innovative digital healthcare offer to be the first-choice pharmacy for customers and patients.
