MSD Animal Health has announced the winner of its 2018 High Quality Pork PhD Award, an accolade presented to leading experts conducting swine health, production and welfare research.
Dr Ana Lopes-Antunes, a postdoctoral researcher from the division for diagnostics and scientific advice in epidemiology at the Denmark Technical University's National Veterinary Institute, has been selected as this year's overall winner.
“MSD Animal Health has selected Dr Ana Carolina Lopes-Antunes, as the recipient of its 2018 High Quality Pork PhD Award.“
She will be given the opportunity to present her research to a panel of swine industry specialists at the forthcoming MSD Animal Health High Quality Pork meetings, which will be held in Asia, Latin America and Europe in 2018.
Her research project focused on exploring large volumes of swine-related databases for endemic swine diseases in Denmark, making it possible to monitor, control and eradicate these diseases.
Honourable mentions were also given to Dr Marisa Rotolo, a postdoctoral researcher at Iowa State University, and Dr Pablo Valdes-Donoso, a scholar at the University of California, Davis.
