GE Healthcare tool aims to cut reporting time for cardiologists

Medical Company Product News

GE Healthcare has introduced a new tool for cardiologists that has been designed to reduce the time and complexity involved in submitting patient reports.

Centricity Cardio Workflow (CCW) 7.0 is the result of a two-year project involving software engineers and product managers from GE Healthcare, who visited more than 50 clinicians worldwide and observed the cardiologist and patient experience.

“GE Healthcare has announced details of a new tool designed to reduce reporting time and complexity for cardiologists.“

They found that the complex user interface cardiologists often face when documenting patient encounters can result in wasted time and incomplete or incorrect data entry.

Based on these insights, the team developed a system that requires fewer clicks and less time to submit information.

One of its key features allows users to submit an 'all normal' report with a single click and then document by exception. The tool also allows clinicians to see how the report will look as they are entering the information, reducing the risk of missing data.

Centricity Cardio Workflow - the original solution from which CCW 7.0 evolved - has already delivered time-saving and quality control benefits for hospitals such as Klinikum Nuremberg in Germany.

Markus Schmidt, IT project manager at the hospital, said: "GE Healthcare … brought a thorough and passionate approach to delivering a solution that drives clinical quality, improves operational efficiency, and ultimately helps doctors do what is most important - spend time with the patient."
