Roche merges UK comms and market access teams

Roche has confirmed that it will be merging its comms and market access teams in the UK to create a unified 40-strong unit.

The decision follows a recent business review and will help the pharmaceutical company achieve greater efficiency, allowing it to commit more resources to its core focus of increasing access to medicines across Europe, reports PRWeek.

“Roche has merged its UK comms and market access teams following a recent business review.“

The new-look team's comms component will be led by head of public affairs Sara Argent, head of corporate affairs Tina Batchelor and newly-hired PR leader David Flynn, while Keith Jordan - formerly Roche's head of national programmes - will assume overall leadership of the division.

A Roche spokesman said: "This new team will give us an enhanced ability to engage with the UK access environment and continue to support our strong pipeline."

Following confirmation of the restructuring, Roche UK announced that its comms director James Woodhouse will be leaving the company as a result of the merger. He has been employed by the firm since 2005, and plans to return to a science-focused comms role later this year.
