Lilly and Livongo to partner on real-world diabetes research

Lilly has announced a new diabetes research partnership with Livongo, a consumer digital health company focused on supporting the health of people with chronic conditions.

The strategic collaboration aims to assess evidence from real-world patient populations and develop new insights to reduce the burden faced by people with diabetes. This work will combine real-world behavioural studies and insurance claims data.

“Lilly is partnering with the digital health company Livongo to gain new insights into the way that diabetes affects real-world patient populations.“

Specifically, Lilly and Livongo will work to measure the impact of remote diabetes self-management education and support on clinical and healthcare cost outcomes, while analysing drivers of healthy behaviour and looking at how patients could stay more actively involved in their health.

The research will leverage the capabilities of Livongo's consumer health technology, which offers personalised recommendations and real-time support to deliver personalised experiences and advice for people with long-term health problems.

Dr Sherry Martin, vice president of medical affairs at Lilly Diabetes, said: "We hope that our combined expertise will play a key role in empowering people with diabetes to better manage their condition."
