Zimmer Biomet names new president and chief executive officer

Zimmer Biomet has announced the appointment of Bryan Hanson as its new president and chief executive officer.

Mr Hanson brings more than 20 years of medical device industry experience to the role, having most recently served as executive vice-president and president of Medtronic's minimally invasive therapies group.

Prior to Medtronic, he served as group president of Covidien's medical devices business, and played a key role in transforming two of Covidien's largest divisions into a single global business unit in 2011.

Daniel Florin, who has served as Zimmer Biomet's interim chief executive since July 2017, will continue in his role as senior vice-president and chief financial officer under Mr Hanson's leadership.

Larry Glasscock, chairman of the Zimmer Biomet board of directors, said: "Bryan is a proven executive with a track record of successfully leading, growing and transforming global medical device businesses to achieve higher levels of innovation, commercial success and profitability."
