BioMerieux names new chairman and CEO

BioMerieux has announced the appointment of Alexandre Merieux as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company with immediate effect.

Mr Merieux, who has served as deputy CEO of BioMerieux for the last three years, has been appointed as the successor to Jean-Luc Belingard, who has occupied the top role since 2010.

In addition to the deputy CEO role, Mr Merieux was vice-president of the Institut Merieux and chairman of Merieux Development, as well as chairing the board of Merieux NutriSciences. He is the latest member of the Merieux family to take up a key leadership role at BioMerieux.

Meanwhile, Mr Belingard will remain on the BioMerieux board as a director and will continue to serve as vice-president of the Institut Merieux, taking charge of strategy and institutional relations.

Alain Merieux, chairman of the Institut Merieux and founding chairman of BioMerieux, said: "In various roles at BioMerieux for 12 years, Alexandre has demonstrated his humanity and operational talents, and this has been clearly reflected by the company's performance during that time. I have great faith in the future of BioMerieux."
