Zimmer Biomet launches new Persona partial knee system

3rd October 2017

Zimmer Biomet has announced the global launch of its new Persona partial knee system, representing a key milestone in the company's portfolio development.

The Persona device is the latest in a series of personalised and anatomically designed knee implants from Zimmer Biomet, and offers a superior fit and efficiency in the operating room.

Global experts in partial knee replacement were consulted in designing Persona, which was developed using data from the ZiBRA anatomical modelling system generated by analysing thousands of bones from a diverse global population.

More than 1,000 cases to date have been treated using Persona, with over 260 patients enrolled in a ten-year global study.

Daniel Florin, interim chief executive officer, senior vice-president and chief financial officer at Zimmer Biomet, said: "The addition of the fixed-bearing Persona partial knee system complements the company's mobile-bearing Oxford partial knee, further strengthening our leadership position in this growing market."

This represents the first significant jointly-developed new product launched by the firm since the Zimmer Biomet combination.
