Sartorius has announced the opening of a new expanded manufacturing facility for laboratory instruments in Goettingen, Germany.
The company has invested 42 million euros (36.98 million pounds) to develop the new building, which is as part of the company's existing Sartorius Campus in Lower Saxony. This represents the largest single investment in this campus to date.
“Sartorius has opened its revamped manufacturing facility for laboratory instruments in Goettingen.“
A number of different manufacturing sites and functions have been consolidated under one roof with this development, including the manufacturing of parts, prototype construction, a calibration centre, an extended vocational training workshop and an administration complex.
The new building covering approximately 25,000 sq m, with glass expanses of around 7,000 sq m providing plenty of daylight. Additionally, steps have been taken to protect against temperature fluctuations and vibration, reflecting the fact that highly accurate balances are calibrated inside.
On the whole, Sartorius is investing around 500 million euros in its campus, with the completion of further construction work scheduled for the end of 2018. The campus grounds cover around 170,000 sq m, meaning further expansions may be possible.
