Unilever has had its leading position in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry underlined by a new report from Kantar Worldpanel.

The consumer insights firm has published its fifth annual Kantar Worldpanel Global Top 50, which measures the world's most popular FMCG brands, and found that Unilever had more products included in the index than any other company.

“Unilever has been named as the company with the most brands in the Kantar Worldpanel Global Top 50 ranking of the world's most chosen FMCG brands.“

Lifebuoy, the world's leading health soap brand, came in at number three, while other Unilever products such as Knorr, Dove, Lux and Sunlight all ranked in the top 20. Sunlight was the top homecare brand, with Dove adding the most consumers to its portfolio by reaching 14 million new households.

This report examines around one billion households and 300 billion shopper decisions across 39 countries, with 13 Unilever brands appearing in the top 50.

Keith Weed, Unilever's chief marketing and communications officer, said: "We will continue to invest in our brands to drive their growth, popularity and consumer benefits, whilst ensuring they are contributing positively to society and the environment."
