Sphere Medical names new medical advisory board member

Sphere Medical has announced the appointment of Professor Michael Grocott as the newest member of its medical advisory board.

As professor of anaesthesia and critical care medicine at the University of Southampton and head of the university's Centre for Human Integrative Physiology, he is well placed to offer clinical insight into the development and application of Sphere's Proxima blood gas analyser.

The professor is also a consultant in critical care medicine at University Hospital Southampton, the UK national specialty group lead for anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and pain within the NIHR Clinical Research Network, and a founding director of the UK National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia Health Services Research Centre.

In his new role on the advisory board, he will work alongside the likes of Professor Jean-Louis Vincent of the University of Brussels and Professor Michael Quintel of the University of Gottingen.

Professor Grocott said: "I am excited by the possibilities that Proxima offers to improve the precision of patient care and delighted to have the opportunity to advise Sphere Medical at this important stage in the development and commercialisation of the system."
