Derma Sciences is partnering with NHS Solent Trust to organise a bike ride to raise awareness of diabetic amputations.

Six individuals will be taking part in the bike ride, which starts in the New Forest on October 25th and will cover 135 miles over two days.

“Derma Sciences will be helping to raise awareness of diabetic amputations with a 135-mile bike ride this month.“

Participants will include Graham Bowen, Tom Delpierre, Stuart Metcalfe and Mayank Patel from NHS Solent Trust, as well as Mark Allatt, sales and marketing manager at Derma Sciences, and Rob Yates from Diabetic Foot Journal, which is sponsoring the ride.

Across England, it is estimated that there are 135 diabetes-related amputations per week, with around 80 percent of these being considered preventable.

Mr Allat said: "With a growing number of individuals suffering from foot-related issues associated with diabetes, many patients don't realise how serious the complications can be if they don't receive treatment."
