Sartorius launches redesigned Sartobind membrane adsorber capsules

19th August 2015

Sartorius has launched an updated version of its Sartobind membrane adsorber capsules that offer improved membrane chromatography performance.

The redesigned capsules offer higher binding capacities, reduced void volumes, less buffer consumption and lower operational costs, making it easier to recover large molecular weight proteins, such as blood factors and conjugated proteins or viruses and virus-like particles.

Their upstream flow channels have been optimised, with an internal core forming a miniaturised downstream channel, while processes have been made more efficient and reliable.

Moreover, an expanded range of capsule sizes are now available, with a four mm bed height from the one mL nano unit up to the new 2.5 L jumbo version.

The new products offer advantages over traditional membrane adsorbers, which use conventional filter housings that ignore chromatographic process parameters, such as back-mixing effects and elution volumes.

Dr Fischer-Fruhholz, membrane chromatography expert at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, said: "This new generation of membrane adsorber capsules takes these specific requirements into account and reflects substantial progress for bind and elute applications."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801798112-ADNFCR
