Porter Novelli has been handed a new PR account by ViiV Healthcare following a six-way pitch.

The agency has been appointed to manage the pharmaceutical company's corporate comms account, offering product and corporate social responsibility support, reports PRWeek.

“Porter Novelli has been hired to handle corporate comms activities for the pharmaceutical company ViiV Healthcare.“

ViiV Healthcare was established in 2009 as a joint venture between Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline and is dedicated to research into innovative HIV treatment strategies. Its product portfolio includes brands such as Triumeq and Tivicay, which were approved in Europe last year.

In 2011 the company brought in Ogilvy Health to provide PR support, with Porter Novelli now set to take over the contract.

The agency is one of the world's most prominent comms companies, with its global health and wellness unit comprising around 300 experts in more than 30 cities worldwide.

Its capabilities in this area include hospital reputation and rankings management, patient and physician engagement, patient advocacy relations and communications, and market access.
