Gore reports positive data from study of hernia repair solution
Medical Company Product NewsGore has announced the final results of a long-term study examining the quality of life for complex ventral hernia repair patients using its Bio-A Tissue Reinforcement system.
The Complex Open Bioabsorbable Reconstruction of the Abdominal Wall Study focused on hernia repair with the Gore biosynthetic mesh and took place at nine centres in the US and Europe.
“Gore has reported clinical trial data that demonstrates the benefits of its Gore Bio-A Tissue Reinforcement system in hernia repair applications.“
Patients reported improved quality of life over time after complex ventral hernia repair with Gore's Bio-A Tissue Reinforcement system, showing it represents a viable alternative to biologics.
Benefits of the system include its porosity, designed to be ideal for rapid cellular infiltration and vascularisation, as well as its three-year shelf life and ease of storage.

Ron Anderson, leader of the general surgical products business unit at Gore, said: "This disruptive technology introduces a new class of biosynthetic that simultaneously offers high patient satisfaction, while saving hospitals and payers potentially significant amounts of money."
