Geistlich Pharma has been presented with a second-place prize at the SAP Quality Excellence Awards following its successful integration of SAP enterprise software in 2013.

The company earned a silver award in the business transformation category after implementing the new organisational system in just ten months, getting it up and running last July.

Geistlich was keen to unite its entire production chain under one roof, from the procurement and monitoring of raw materials through to research and development, production, warehousing and distribution.

To manage the ensuing complexity, the company sought a more efficient enterprise resource planning system, with the rapid implementation overseen by project manager Dr Renzo Salzmann, in full compliance with US regulations.

Rolf Jeger, chief financial officer of Geistlich Pharma, said: "With regard to project scope, the short implementation time and the results obtained, the achievement of the project team - under the leadership of Dr Salzmann - has been remarkable."

Last month, the firm launched an updated version of its corporate website, aimed at providing a wider range of guidance for clinical personnel and patients.
