BD launches new glass prefillable syringe system

BD has announced the worldwide launch of BD Neopak, a new glass prefillable syringe system that has been specifically engineered for the administration of biopharmaceutical injectable therapies.

Its benefits include its high level of quality and enhanced container and device integration, with its fully indexed manufacturing process eliminating glass-to-glass contact, thereby ensuring fewer visual defects and increased glass strength.

Other advantages of BD Neopak include its reduced silicone levels, tighter dimensional tolerance and reduced dead volume space, as well as the customisation options available to pharmaceutical partners with sensitive drugs.

Claude Dartiguelongue, president of BD Medical's pharmaceutical systems division, said: "The BD Neopak Glass Prefillable Syringe is designed to reduce risks associated with primary container and drug interactions and enable our customers' drug products speed to market safely and effectively."

This comes after BD completed its takeover of Safety Syringes – a specialist developer of anti-needlestick devices for prefilled syringes – earlier this year.
