Covidien introduces new hernia care products at medical conference
Medical Company Product NewsCovidien is introducing three new additions to its hernia care product range at the American Hernia Society annual meeting in Orlando this week.
The first of these is the ProGrip Laparoscopic Self-Fixating Mesh, which helps to increase the security of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs, while avoiding the pain and high costs associated with tack fixation methods.
Featured alongside this will be the Parietex Composite Ventral Patch for umbilical and small ventral hernia repair, which is designed for optimal abdominal wall conformability, easy deployment and peripheral fixation.
Finally, Covidien will present the AbsorbaTack 30X Absorbable Fixation Device, the latest addition to its AbsorbaTack absorbable hernia fixation range, offering an enhanced drive mechanism and new shaft for optimal tack deployment.
Rob Claypoole, vice-president and general manager for hernia care at Covidien, said: "As a leader in the market, we are looking forward to the future of hernia care and believe that patients will benefit from these three new products."
This comes after the company completed patient enrolment for a pair of trials assessing the benefits of its iliac stent range in treating iliac artery disease last month.
