Elsevier appoints managing director for science books unit

Elsevier has announced the appointment of Suzanne BeDell as the managing director of its science and technology books business unit.

Ms BeDell is a publishing industry veteran, having worked in the sector for more than 28 years, during which she has held leadership positions at a variety of different science and technology publishing and digital information businesses.

In her new capacity at Elsevier – which is responsible for imprints such as Academic Cell Press, as well as online resources including ScienceDirect – she will lead the company's efforts in developing print and electronic products to serve customer needs.

Youngsuk Chi, chief executive officer at Elsevier Science and Technology, said: "The science and technology books group plays a key role in Elsevier's strategic growth so we are delighted to have someone of Suzanne's calibre to take on the leadership of the group."
