Internet Matters signs up following five-way pitch

29th June 2015

Up Communications today announced that it has been hired by not-for-profit online safety organisation Internet Matters, to help engage parents and connect it to key influencers in the media, business and government.

Internet Matters is backed by the UK’s four largest Internet Service Providers – BT, Sky, Talk Talk and Virgin Media – and aims to raise awareness of children’s safety on the Internet by educating parents.

Up won the 12-month contract following a five-way pitch that took place in May. It is now beginning work with Internet Matters this month, to establish the organisation as a leading authority in child online safety and parental education.

Carolyn Bunting, Managing Director of Internet Matters, said: “We were looking for a PR team that could match creativity with solid delivery – a business that could act as a safe pair of hands while challenging us to stand out and have a unique voice in our field. Up was that business. Their mix of enthusiasm, experience and ideas marked them out from among the pack.

“At Internet Matters we have a simple ethos that involves encouraging parents to learn about online issues, talk to their kids and deal with the situation directly. We’re looking forward to working with Up to help share that message.”

Stuart Jackson, CEO of Up, said: “With the world of technology moving faster than ever, it’s often hard for parents to keep up with the changes and new services. We’ve built a plan that will help inform adults and help keep kids safe, and we’re looking forward to educating and inspiring parents across the UK with our creative campaigns and no-nonsense ideas.

“We’re delighted to be working with Internet Matters throughout 2015 and beyond. They have a compelling story to tell – one of action, positivity and safety in the online world.
