Limited engagement between Pharma companies and mental health groups

22nd August 2018

A recent report, Corporate Reputation of Pharma Companies, 2017-2018 – The Patient Perspective of 101 Mental Health Patient Groups, has highlighted the limited engagement between pharma companies and mental health groups. 11% of the 101 patient groups surveyed said they had worked with one or two companies, and almost half of them said they had not worked with any.

12 separate indicators of corporate reputation were used to rank the pharma companies. For the third consecutive year, Janssen stood out as number one out of the 14 pharma companies in terms of engagement and reputation with the 74 patient groups it was known to, and had 47 partnerships. Otsuka came second in the reputation ranking with the 31 mental health patient groups it was known to. Lundbeck came second in terms of partnerships with 28, and third in reputation by the 48 patient groups it was known to. Lilly came third in the partnership ranks with 25. The remaining 11 companies did not fare so well, with Boehringer and MSD on seven and Sanofi on six partnerships.
