Boston Scientific’s Irish Operations See €80m Investment & 400 New Jobs
Medical DevicesBoston Scientific continues to carry out its expansion strategy, backed by IDA Ireland, through an €80 million investment into their facility based in Clonmel. This builds on their current MedTech discovery, development, and production competencies while providing over 400 new employment opportunities.
Not only will there be a larger physical area for office and production, but they will also be using renewable alternatives for 90% of their energy needs in line with their promise to reach carbon neutral status by 2030.

The location has already achieved ‘Centre of Excellence’ status for metal additive manufacturing across a range of medical device products and parts; their medical tools and equipment are used internationally in the treatment of more than 400,000 individuals annually.
They are actively seeking candidates who specialise in engineering, manufacturing, supply, quality, and discovery to join their workforce.

Executive Director of the IDA Ireland, Mary Buckley, expressed that they “welcome this investment in R&D and further manufacturing, which will offer new opportunities and careers in Tipperary and the region from the largest life sciences employer in Ireland.”
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar explained that “Boston Scientific has been steadily growing its footprint in Ireland for the past quarter century. Ireland is a global leader in the life sciences sector, and the decision by the company to invest again in Clonmel shows real confidence in the talent and infrastructure available.”
