Getinge Spends $16m to Buy Ultra Clean Systems
Service EngineeringGetinge has disclosed that it has purchased all stocks of Ultra Clean Systems, a major US producer of ultrasonic cleaning equipment used to disinfect surgical instruments in hospitals and operating clinics.
It is a primary goal of any decontamination company to reduce the danger of infections contracted within hospital environments. Ultrasonic cleaning is a crucial component for sterilizing equipment, particularly the more complicated tools used during robotic surgery.
“Getinge has disclosed that it has purchased all stocks of Ultra Clean Systems“
Surgical Workflows lead at Getinge, Stéphane Le Roy, explained that “with the addition of Ultra Clean’s expertise and technology, we significantly expand our offering to sterile reprocessing departments in North America, which now contains a complete range of process equipment, consumables and IT solutions. Getinge’s global sales reach will be a great platform to accelerate the adoption of Ultra Clean’s technologies”.
Last year, Ultra Clean Systems produced 90 million (Swedish Krona) in total sales. Getinge has served as Ultra Clean Systems' only North American partner for almost ten years and will be able to provide consistent service quality for all products sold across the US thanks to the newfound supply chain control.

Becky Cale, President and O’Brien Cale, CEO and founder of Ultra Clean Systems adds, “Ultra Clean Systems is rightly being recognized for its expertise in Ultra Sonic cleaning technology. We can feel an immense pride knowing that our customers will continue to benefit from the quality products that Ultra Clean Systems has been known for.”
The total cost of the cash deal for Getinge amounted to 170 million Swedish Krona, equivalent to $16 million.
They do not anticipate the purchase to come with any financial or operational effects this year.
