Energy Taiwan Shows UK’s Renewable Energy Expertise

The “UK Offshore Wind Pavilion” and the “UK-Taiwan Hydrogen Pavilion” will host the display of the UK’s offshore/floating wind and hydrogen/hydrogen mobility expertise on October 19th through 21st. With the British Office Taipei, the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, and 22 British renewable energy businesses there to present it.

The UK is taking part in the Energy Taiwan exhibition for the second time, showing its dedication to backing and assisting Taiwan in achieving its 2050 net zero targets through devoted renewable energy development.

The UK has the largest offshore wind capabilities on the globe, and now has offshore wind potential with a capacity of up to 86 GW. Following the opening of 36 UK offshore wind businesses there, Taiwan has become the main offshore wind market for the UK in the entire Asia Pacific area.

In 2022, UK Export Finance has funded three offshore wind projects in Taiwan with third-party credit risk mitigation totalling more than £500 million.

10 upcoming UK companies from the hydrogen value chain have come to Taiwan to showcase the UK’s skill and knowledge when it comes to a range of hydrogen related sectors. These include: consulting, compression solutions, refuelling, storage, production, and finally, fuel systems.

Hydrogen with low carbon content is essential for the conversion to net zero energy. In order to achieve its goal of 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030, a hydrogen plan was produced for the UK, laying out the strategy for establishing a prosperous low carbon hydrogen division.
