CardMedic Creates Patient Communication Platform

Healthcare Communications

Healthcare personnel may now utilise "an A to Z library" of prewritten and pretranslated texts in communication with patients thanks to CardMedic.

The platform is set for success because clinical practise and patient interaction is relatively homogenous, meaning the same phrases and sentences can be used across many practices. With the app, a doctor may say, "We're about to put you to sleep," in the patient's native tongue. In the case of an illiterate patient, the app can adapt to read the text aloud; if they are deaf, the app can switch to sign language films with subtitles.

“Cardmedic’s chat feature enables users to converse or communicate in many languages, facilitating reciprocal communication“

Cardmedic’s chat feature enables users to converse or communicate in many languages, facilitating reciprocal communication.

Another great feature is the ‘favourite’ tool which allows patients to save certain phrases sent by the doctor, meaning they can display them to family members or caregivers. They can also choose from a provided list of common questions to ask.

Right now, CardMedic has 800 prewritten texts produced by experts in medical and healthcare fields. There are already 20 languages it can translate phrases into, and there are 10 more on the way.

55,000 people in 120 countries, including 20,000 patients, have downloaded it. A study on how well individuals can communicate with professionals through PPE demonstrated that the app improved comprehension by almost 30%.

Dr Rachael Grimaldi, Co-Founder of CardMedic, explained that what they “want CardMedic to be able to do is break down communication barriers, empower those underserved populations” and “put them at the heart of that shared decision making with the clinicians.”
