Pharmacists will not undergo independent prescriber training when they begin foundation training in 2021
Pharmacists will not undergo independent prescriber training when they begin the new national foundation training year in 2021, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has confirmed. Earlier this year, a letter from the GPhC, as well as the four UK chief pharmaceutical officers stated that the current pre-registration year would be substituted with a national foundation year, to improve initial education and training, starting from summer 2021.
However, the latest update stated that the goal was for students, who start their MPharm degree in the future, to be independent prescribers before they join the register.
