Philips’ team in the Philippines has devised a great new idea to keep healthcare staff and their patients safe during identification and assessment of Covid-19 damage in a patient. CT and diagnostic X-Ray imaging are used to identify and assess the pulmonary damage caused by COVID-19, and the team have started to convert industrial shipping containers into mobile CT and X-Ray imaging cabins that can be located within hospitals, in the grounds of the hospital, or even out in the community, wherever they are best utilised. Given that lab testing for Covid-19 can take around two days, healthcare authorities in the Philippines are now beginning to use these new ingenious CT and X-Ray cabins to triage patients with a view to immediate isolation if results show they have Covid-19.

The cabins have an integral lead shield to reduce stray radiation and UV lamps to sterilize the workspace between use.
