Scotland Dental Practice closes due to Coronavirus

12th March 2020

Stewart & Stewart’s Dental Practice in Lanarkshire is fully closed, following a coronavirus outbreak in the building and as a result, patients who have recently visited the practice are being contacted.
Public Health England (PHE) diagnosed the dentist, on his way back from Italy, where he experienced flu-like symptoms and, ever since, he hasn’t returned to the practice, the Jewish Chronicle outlines.
An NHS Lanarkshire consultant in public health medicine, Dr Femi Oshin, stated: “We want to reassure all staff and patients of the practice that the risk of contracting coronavirus from this individual is low. Our public health team is in the process of telephoning patients in contact and issuing public health advice. These phone calls will take place over the next day. Not everyone who has attended the practice last week will have had contact with the confirmed case. We want to reassure these patients that they should follow the most up-to-date health advice. Advice is on the NHS Inform website. We would like to thank everyone at the practice for their cooperation and support at what will undoubtedly be a difficult time for them. We will provide further details on the practice reopening in due course.”
