Lomb launches educational programmes

3rd April 2009

Bausch & Lomb has launched two educational programmes in relation to Storz Ophthalmic Instruments to teach nurses how to identify, use and care for surgical equipment.

The self-taught activities will also be beneficial for central sterile and materials management staff to help them understand the necessary care techniques and unique procedures for handling microsurgical instrumentation.

It is hoped the courses will result in equipment lasting longer, while providing optimum care and safety for the patient.

Chuck Hess, senior director of marketing and sales for surgical equipment at the company, explained staff members will be encouraged to take responsibility when it comes to instruments.

This would result in “providing more positive surgical outcomes for the patient and better use of expense budgets for the facility”, he remarked.

Meanwhile, Bausch & Lomb has partnered with Visual Therapy to promote the benefits of multifocal contact lenses for both men and women.

The online programme ? See a New You ? is intended to educate consumers on the former’s products to give those with problematic eyesight freedom from glasses.
