Schering Plough uses French water for new nasal rinse

Pharmaceutical Company Product News

Schering-Plough has used water from the Bay of Saint-Malo in France for its latest product - the Afrin PureSea Hydrating Nasal Rinse.

Aimed at helping consumers who want a non-medicated, daily and convenient nasal irrigation product, Afrin PureSea is made completely from purified sea water.

The company said this helps to reduce discomfort and stinging because the composition is similar to that in the human body.

In addition, Afrin Pure Sea is equipped with a special applicator designed to fit the shape of the nostrils. Three versions of the product are available - Ultra Gentle Mist, Gentle Mist and Medium Stream.

"Schering-Plough recognised the need for a convenient nasal irrigation product that is all-natural and easy to use at home," remarked group vice-president of research and development at the company's consumer healthcare division Dr John O'Mullane.

Earlier this year, Schering-Plough announced the launch of Claritin Liqui-Gels, which made the allergy medicine available in liquid-filled capsules.
