Abbott 'a top company for graduate jobs'

Pharmaceutical Company Restructures

Abbott has been ranked as one of the top companies for recent university and college graduates to start their careers, it has been reported.

The 2008 edition of the Princeton Review, an educational preparation company, lists the firm among the best for individuals who have just finished their schooling.

Abbott reports that many of its entry-level staff join the business through one of its professional development initiatives, which consist mainly of two to three year six-month rotational assignments in a number of fields.

Furthermore, the firm also offers students who have finished clinical residencies a physician development programme.

Stephen Fussell, senior vice-president of human resources at the company, said: "At Abbott, we believe the combination of the right talent and performance leads to success."

He added that Abbott is a good place for graduates to both start their career and build up a job-for-life, with a range of services available for staff, from on-line mentoring to a tuition reimbursement scheme.

In May 2007, Abbott was ranked among the top place for scientists to work in the pharmaceutical industry according to a table published in the Scientist magazine - the fifth year in a row the company has been recognised in this way.
