Agar Scientific distributes Fischione tomography holders

Agar Scientific has revealed it is to distribute tomography holders for transmission electron microscopes (TEM) manufactured by Fischione Instruments.

The 2000 range of holders allows three-dimensional images to be created by photographing a structure from a variety of angles.

Products to be supplied by Agar Scientific include the 2020, which the firm states is suitable for applications which require a wide tilt angle.

Meanwhile, the 2030 is said to be well suited to narrow gap tomography with pole piece geometry of less than three millimetres.

The range also includes the 2050 for cylindrical or conical samples, which rotates them through 360 degrees to elicit the maximum amount of information in the construction of the three-dimensional image.

Agar Scientific notes that this reduces the amount of data lost, adding that single-axis tomography typically misses a wedge of information, while dual-axis tomography ignores a pyramidal section.

Stansted-based Agar Scientific was established in 1972 and claims its products are of particular interest to TEM users.
