Thermo Fisher introduces new IonicX analyser

16th October 2019

Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced its new hand held X-Ray Fluorescence analyser that can identify and authenticate the top five ionic salt raw materials used in biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical manufacturing in the warehouse, reducing the cost and time implications of conventional lab-based wet chemistry or benchtop NIR testing. The new XRF analyser meets good manufacturing practices and the 21 CFR Part 11 requirements, and its ability to authenticate sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride and calcium chloride will also facilitate the maintenance of regulatory compliance and rigorous quality standards.
Thermo Fisher Scientific product manager, Kyle Dumke, said: “Compliance and efficiency are top concerns for raw materials managers, but thoroughly analyzing all incoming materials takes time and resources. Pharmaceutical companies purchase these salts in large amounts and are required to test each container to meet strict regulatory requirements. That’s a tedious and costly process when using standard wet chemistry lab or near-infrared benchtop testing. With a portable XRF analyzer, testing can be done right on the warehouse floor in seconds.”
