Molecular Technical Sales Specialist
TERRITORY:South East including Cambridgeshire, London, Bristol, Surrey
PRODUCTS: Molecular Biology assays, kits and reagents (in the areas of genetics, oncology, molecular microbiology, DNA/RNA sample preparation, PCR and qPCR reagents)
CUSTOMERS: University, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Clinical & Life Science research institutes and laboratories
This role is suitable for a scientist, currently working in a laboratory/research based role and have experience in life science techniques such as PCR and DNA and a broad range of laboratory skills within the molecular biology area, who is driven to move into a technical scientific sales role!
This role is 80% field-based, travelling to customer sites across the geographical region, with around one day per week working from home. In this position, the successful candidate with maintain and develop relationships with existing customers as well as developing new business opportunities across the territory.
Role Responsibilities:
· Implement a structured plan to strategically develop business within the region via face to face meetings, email and telephone follow up.
· Work closely across NHS, academia, research and industrial accounts to develop relationships across all levels of seniority.
· Identify and qualify prospective customers, to help increase business in the territory.
· Deliver product presentations and demonstrations to current and prospective customers when required, as well as providing technical support.
· Work closely with key accounts to leverage further business partnerships, including collaborations, studies and customer education programs.
· Ensure excellent market knowledge and awareness of competitor activity, feedback any information to colleagues.
Person Specification:
Minimum of a BSc degree (ideally holding a MSc or higher), with a background in Molecular Biology or other biological based subject.
Post-degree laboratory experience (in a research, clinical, or industrial laboratory) in a molecular biology settling, with knowledge of PCR based technology and workflows
Confident hands-on ability to perform laboratory techniques within the molecular biology laboratory environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical information concisely to customers.
Determination and self-motivation to succeed in a customer-facing scientific sales role.
Previous experience in customer facing positions is preferred but not essential, however, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent commercial awareness and enthusiasm to move into scientific sales.
