Medical writing also known as a copywriter, is about producing high quality written materials (including journals, magazine articles, brochures, blogs, and website content) that the reader will find useful and engaging. It can also involve developing communication materials that will then be used within their chosen industry (in this case scientific and pharmaceutical industries) as well as educational bodies.

What is involved in Medical Writing?
Medical Writers are usually required within a Medical or Healthcare Communications agency. The role is likely to involve; analysing, researching, writing, editing and proof reading a full range of medical education and communications materials, to ensure that they meet the project specification, budget and delivery schedule set out by the client.
In order to create the best type of medical writing, medical writers will need to:
• Maintain up-to-date terminology and industry knowledge with the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Many of our clients would like the writer to either have experience of writing within this sector, or a PHD or similar qualification.
• Have the ability to be able to adjust their writing styles, in order to produce materials for a range of different audiences, across different therapy areas.
• Need to be able to work independently and keep to structured and sometimes tight deadlines set out by the client.
• Have strong written and spoken English skills, attention to detail, good spelling and grammar, and have a good understanding of medical jargon and terminology.
