LCMS Technical Specialist

Exciting Opportunity for a MSc PhD educated scientist to join a leading company within the Analytical market as a Technical Specialist.

Territory: UK (Focus around North UK & Scotland)
Products: Liquid Chromatography product range and associated software packages

Purpose of this Position:
The LCMS Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the continued growth of UK LCMS Business with training and instrument support in the field across our LCMS install base, and by conducting successful demonstrations to ensure customer success with our solutions.

This will be achieved by gaining a deep insight into individual customer challenges so that you can provide Excellence in Science in partnership with customers across the UK. In addition to supporting customers a high level of technical support will be provided to the LCMS Sales Team to assist them to support the Regional Business opportunities. The Technical Specialist will meet all company expectations for customer demonstrations, support excellence as well as providing a constructive, collaborative interface between field sales and service colleagues, our customers, office colleagues and the UK LCMS Managers.

Scope of Position:
· To ensure customer success with LCMS(MS) solutions.
· To support the post-sales process and help the company achieve customer confidence and success for the LCMS(MS) product lines, always providing an exceptional level of remote and on-site support, technical excellence, and superior product knowledge.
· To support the pre-sales process to help the company achieve and exceed the sales targets for the LCMS(MS) product lines, providing an exceptional level of technical and application support, to continually improve demo performance and strategy.
· To present as the leading LCMS(MS) solution supplier at external meetings, conferences and associated events.
· To maintain and grow a knowledge of competitor solutions and emerging applications, allowing identification and promotion of the unique selling points of our own solutions.
· To support customers to develop new applications in response market demand, and where application to develop these in-house to support market requirements and associated campaigns.
· Apply 'Excellence in Science' to all activities; have confidence to question perceived wisdom and procedures for the development of the company and our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Post-sales
· Support customer success through highly competent, pro-active training and technical support.
· This can cover any area of LCMS(MS), with a primary focus on quantitative LCMS(MS).
· Providing customer training post-installation support to meet Best in Class standards.
· Make field visits to existing customers to support their on-going success and further develop our customer base, through to enhance confidence and develop reference advocates and sites.
· Being adaptable, having the confidence and independence to determine the best course of action when dealing with customers.
· Work alongside the Service team to support non-hardware-based requirements, and to provide seamless service and support

Pre-Sales
· Work with the sales team to plan and conduct high-quality, effective and memorable customer evaluations.
· Enable the transfer of customer applications to LCMS(MS) hardware in support of the sales process.
· Providing technically accurate and commercially appealing reports which promote the benefits of the solutions following demonstration and sample analysis.
· Demonstrating technical leadership in the marketplace to present the company as the LCMS(MS) vendor of choice.
· Be active in the field providing technical support for the LCMS(MS) sales activities via joint customer visits with the sales team.
· Ensuring work areas within the UK Evaluation Laboratory relating to the LCMS(MS) product line are kept in pristine condition.
· Presenting Product and Application specific information at external conferences/meetings.
· Provide product and application specific training to the UK sales team, in conjunction with the LCMS Sales Manager.
· Attend meetings and maintain positive relationships with global support teams.


The Activities of the Technical Specialist can include such elements as:
1) Customer visits, which can be pre- or post-sales
2) Analysis of customer samples
3) Technical and Scientific presentations at customer, internal and external meetings
4) Supporting the development of new applications - with customers and in-house
5) Demonstrations of LCMS(MS) instrumentation
6) Training days for customers, typically at customer site
7) Monthly reporting and handling of all relevant technical requests and issues

What we are looking for:
· Preference for candidates typically qualified to MSc or PhD level with a significant emphasis on chromatography, LCMS(MS) and quantitative mass spectrometry
· Significant experience in mass spectrometry and/or chromatography may be accepted as an alternative to MSc or PhD
· Demonstrable deep understanding of the theory and practise of Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography.
· Knowledge of MALDI mass spectrometry is useful but not essential.
· Strong understanding of software systems.
· Sound understanding of quantitative LCMS(MS) and validation procedures.
· Good awareness of competitor's hardware and software.
· Willingness to travel and spend a significant amount of time away from home.
