Brand & Customer Manager - Anaesthesia

Location: A minimum of 3 days per week at Head Office, Hoddesdon, two days per week travel - UK and Europe

Products: Bridion and Esmeron - both muscle relaxants
The successful applicant will have responsibility for developing and implementing marketing plans to ensure optimal business results within the therapy area whilst working towards organisational and Business Unit strategic objectives. As well as this there will be added responsibility to drive national project initiatives. This will be focussed on the Private Healthcare Market and will be responsible for leading the project to develop a deep understanding of this sector and incorporate into the UK brand plan. This role will also have responsibility for developing customer interactions in the field.

This role will also have direct input into the regional Eucan Anaesthesia BU, helping shape and implement our strategy across the region.

Key responsibilities are:

Internal relationships
Be the key point of contact for the sales force for all queries relating to products within the Anaesthesia franchise, clearly communicating with passion their benefits whilst incorporating any feedback into the brand plan.
Proactively lead core cross functional Brand Team to ensure efficient integration and collaboration across key functions contributing to the Brand.
Brief sales force and other internal parties on brand and promotional strategy and associated materials.
Provide input to Eucan team, particularly the centres of excellence
Ensure all projects are inline with over arching MSD franchise vision and support the goals of other products in the franchise where applicable.

Develop and implement promotional and non-promotional materials and programmes
Work with Head of Sales and Marketing to develop UK marketing strategy and plans.
Deliver marketing plans for key customer groups which may include primary care, secondary care, NHS management and payers, Market Access institutions and patients.
Work with Brand Promotions and Multi Channel Communications to develop materials.
Commission / develop as appropriate promotional and non-promotional materials and programmes.
Develop a plan for the private sector to identify key opportunities and strategies to maximise on the business opportunity.

Customer relationships
Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, acting as an expert in the area.
Maintain thorough understanding of customer perspective and develop solutions which best meet customer needs and help improve patient outcomes, including HCP and patient education initiatives as appropriate.

Business operations
Proactively liaise and collaborate with various UK functions, including Sales force, Customer Insight and Analytics, Business Services, Outcomes Research and Commercial Operations, External Affairs, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure optimal alignment and effective implementation of business plans.
Support regional business opportunities through appropriate marketing development
Day-to-day management of promotional budget to optimise effectiveness and efficiency in line with Merck compliance standards.
Conduct all business activities inline with Merck Sigma principles and a 'continuous improvement' mindset
Input to annual profit plan and long range operating plans
Conduct all activities in compliance with company policies and standards, and with the PMCPA Code of Practice and MHRA guidance.
Proactively liaise and collaborate with global colleagues

Person Profile

The requirement is for someone with strong customer focus, strong decision making ability, a good understanding of the NHS and also the private sector

Education and Skills Required
University degree or equivalent

Minimum Experience Required
Marketing in the pharmaceutical industry
Field sales experience

Skills/Knowledge Required
Track record of success
Excellent project management and organisational skills, with evidence of delivery.
Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and confidence
Evidence of effective cross functional teamwork and collaboration with the ability to work in a group and as an individual
Experience in developing brand plans and have an understanding of the brand planning process
Experience in sales force motivation and engagement
Experience in developing customer relationships
Robust understanding of the NHS and have the ability to translate into partnership opportunities
Understanding and experience with internal SOP's and the certification process of promotional material
Ethics and integrity
