Reason for Vacancy: Internal move

Responsible for leading a team of 6 field-based managers who work with NHS organisations across our Infectious Diseases and Oncology portfolios

. This highly skilled team work with the NHS to identify opportunities to improve the care pathway and to create strategic partnerships in areas of interest to our business. In addition, the Health Economy Liaison Manager for Scotland, who has cross-portfolio responsibility, also reports into this role.

The Oncology/Infectious disease field-based team has only recently been established (in its current form), and was set up in response to the new national specialist commissioning environment in England. To manage this team, you will need to be a highly capable leader who is passionate about the NHS and who has a clear vision for how the team should evolve to be at the cutting edge of Pharmaceutical Industry/NHS engagement.

This role reports to a Company Board level position (the External Affairs Director) and is part of the External Affairs Leadership Team. The EALT is comprised of the functional leaders from across the Directorate who work together to drive teamwork, collaboration and execution across our group. A strong and positive contribution to the Directorate-wide EALT is expected from the successful individual.

Although the role will initially focus on Oncology and Infectious Diseases, the successful candidate will need to have a flexible mindset and be prepared to work across other therapy areas as company and departmental priorities evKey responsibilities in this role:


" Develop and maintain an expert understanding of NHS policy and decision-making nationally, regionally and locally, identifying and responding to trends that create opportunities for our business

" Collaborate with the Business Units and External Affairs to identify opportunities and lead the team in delivering NHS partnership, JWIs and strategic projects aligned to business priorities that achieve clear results and demonstrate value

" Provide strong leadership to the field-based team, creating clear expectations of delivery, underpinned by a robust set of business focused metrics that enable transparent reporting and tracking of projects against plan

" Coach, support and develop the team, creating a high performing, highly engaged group of managers valued b
" internal business partners and NHS customers alike

" Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, establishing yourself as a core and valued member of the External Affairs Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction and continued evolution of the function
