Senior Product Manager - Market Access
TITLE: Senior Product Manager (Market Access)
THERAPY AREA: Whole portfolio (oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and vaccines, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases)
LOCATION: High Wycombe
An exciting new opportunity has arisen in Janssen's External Affairs team for a Senior Product Manager within the Market Access department. Within this position you will be responsible for developing business plans to achieve accelerated, broad and effective market/patient access and funding for priority core brands and pipeline products.
Key Activities within the role include:
Market Access Strategy
- Create and role model an 18 month strategic vision and direction for achieving accelerated, broad market and patient access for key brands.
- Lead the Market Access Stratgy Team (MAST) in the development of a series of SMART objectives which aim to achieve broad and accelerated market access for the brand.
- Determine targeting and segmentation strategies.
- Identify key outcomes and tactics to achieve the MAST objectives and assign appropriate owners.
- Share best practice, learnings and training approaches.
- Participate in all Country Value Teams (CVT) for the assigned brand(s) representing the MAST.
- Liaise with Country Value Team Leader (CVTL) to ensure that the MAST strategy is aligned with the brand strategy.
- Contribute to overall business unit strategy and planning, by supporting and feeding intelligence from the MAST into the CVT, marketing strategy meetings and business and strategic planning process.
- Coordinate early market access strategies with brand teams and provide commercial input for feedback to EMEA.
Marketing and Value Proposition
- Own and proactively lead work to support and improve a Payer Value Proposition that will convince NHS customers to invest in our new technologies, by leveraging Mx tools and methodologies, to ensure alignment with customer needs.
- Ensure the MAST has a thorough knowledge of existing policy and its impact on customer decision making. Identify how best to align the VP with policy imperatives.
- Ensure the MAST has a thorough understanding of the key customer insights and that they are integrated into the VP, leveraging the Mx approach and Mx tools, adapting tools where required.
- Work with marketing intelligence and procurement to commission market research and agencies to develop insights and materials required to support market access, where required.
- Lead the development of customer facing materials, utilising the commissioning brief, to ensure high quality, impactful and compliant tools are delivered to the field based Health Economy Liaison Managers to enable the effective communication of value to key decision-makers.
- Optimally manage the marketing budget to avoid under/over spend and phase spend effectively.
Project Leadership
- Inspire and motivate the MAST to achieve their objectives, ensuring the team are integrated and aligned as to the vision, objectives, tasks and outputs of the MAST and take personal and collective responsibility for MAST results.
- Ensure roles, responsibilities and priorities are clear and that all members of the MAST are delivering in accordance with these.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement, where members of the MAST constructively challenge and build on the strategies and plans and create stretching objectives and targets.
- Take full accountability for MAST performance, taking a leadership role to ensure timely, high quality achievement of clear, quantifiable MAST objectives, tracking performance against plan in real time.
- Ensure barriers to achieving the objectives (risks and issues) are identified and managed appropriately.
- Review the performance of the MAST, seeking feedback from members on the efficacy and efficiency of the MAST and areas for improvement.
- Manage relevant stakeholders (Business Unit Director, External Affairs Director) by keeping them apprised of the performance of the MAST and progress towards achievement of objectives.
- Update the External Affairs Leadership Team (EALT) each month on achievement of MAST objectives, progress vs plan, issues and risks via completion of the dashboard and presentation at the EALT meeting.

Person Profile
-Significant experience gained in pharmaceutical marketing (either brand aligned or within a market access post).
-Able to demonstrate experience and expertise in market access strategy (could have been gained in either a field based post or a strategic marketing role).
-Cross-sector working; demonstrated via either a cross-country role, or a cross-sector post within an affiliate group.
-Demonstrable skills in external networking/relationship building. Strong working knowledge of NHS.
-Commercial Acumen. Ability to interpret implications of the external environment on our business and leverage these to our advantage/prepare our business to respond/anticipate and capitalise on change.
-Strategic thinking and planning.
-Strong drive for results. Able to effectively manage a team to ensure strategy is translated into commercially aligned deliverables.
