Head of Market Access
TITLE: Head of Market Access
LOCATION: Chertsey, Surrey
REPORTING TO: Sales and Marketing Director - Speciality Care
To take responsibility for the development of Astellas Value Proposition work, ie develop market access strategy for the business
Responsible for coordinating and managing local / regional market access / market shaping activities for Astellas UK
Reviewing local market access value propositions, ensuring that they are of the highest standard and utilized in a effective manner.
To co-ordinate and chair cross company, market access meetings
To ensure the best possible outcome for Astellas brands
Working on local and regional payer materials with information based on HTA submissions and any relevant clinical data
To develop relationships with key influential bodies to optimise product uptake after launch
" Ability to think like a local payer and understand how they are likely to respond to our pharmacological products or "value added" services
" Able to develop concepts and/or services, and clearly communicate these to the organization, which achieve a win:win:win for Patients / NHS / Astellas
" Tailor and coordinate product positioning and/or services to address NHS payer current and future service priorities
" Strength to challenge company thinking and attitudes relating to NHS payers.
" Develop an overarching company strategy around local and regional market access.
" Responsible for managing Service Development Managers (primary and secondary care)
" Conduct 'field visits' with members of the Astellas market access teams
" Hold regular meetings with department heads relating to Market Access functions ensuring Astellas personnel are on message and adhere to company strategy.
" Ensuring that work undertaken in regard to reviews by NICE, SMC and AWMSG, etc of Astellas products are adapted for 'local market access' strategies by the brand teams
" To gather intelligence about the NHS changes, PCT / CCG bodies, develop a strategy about changes that could influence Astellas activities. To horizon scan regarding future funding challenges and ensure planning is in place to cover Astellas requirements
" Oversee and review the writing / development of local market access materials to be used by market access / sales teams to justify funding and commissioning decisions of Astellas products in Specialty care. Support in other functional areas.
" Identifying key external funding bodies and creating and/or developing a proactive relationship with each body including London New Drugs Group, National Prescribing Centre, MTRAC, NETAG
" Support the Service Development Manager / Healthcare Development Team / KAM team in utilising your specialised market access knowledge and contacts
" Act as an information resource by being the "eyes and ears" and a repository of information, regarding funding and commissioning changes and their likely impact on Astellas. Publicising relevant information at an appropriate level and in a timely manner within Astellas.
" Ensuring that all administration tasks are completed and targets are met - Project plans monthly reporting, expenses etc.
" Where appropriate, actively managing budgets on an ongoing basis to ensure budget compliance is met by department.
" Ensure all activities are compliant with the ABPI Code of Practice and ensuring that all standards are met.
" Attending internal and external business meetings, seminars, sales conferences and other events which may involve overnight stays and regular travel across the UK (and occasionally abroad).
" Maintaining a level of IT competence which enables use of company communication and reporting systems and utilisation of relevant Microsoft Office.
" Undertaking any other appropriate tasks as may arise from time to time e.g. task force participation or liaising with Marketing.
Job Package
Basic salary negotiable depending on experience
Person Profile
" Full and detailed understanding of the funding and commissioning cycle, the NHS and the commercial implications for Pharma companies
" Formal training in Health Economics a distinct advantage although not essential
" Demonstrable examples of influencing NHS payers through product messaging / and / or service improvements
" Ability to lead and motivate a team
" Development of strategy and follow through actions
" Presentation skills
" Knowledge of ABPI Code of Practice
" IT competent to use email and Microsoft Office
" Well developed influencing skills - able to enlist help and support from managers both internally and externally
" Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), influencing / persuasiveness skills -pro active
" 'Can do' attitude who gets things done - able to work on own as well as in teams
