Senior Analyst/Manager, Marketing Information

Title: Senior Analyst/Manager, Marketing Information

Location: Nyon, Switerland

Status: 11 month contract

Reporting to: Director, Sales & Marketing Operations

This position will provide support to the International Specialty business through being a trusted resource on International secondary data, knowledgeable in the available data and able to deliver insights to business partners based on their analysis. The individual in this role will be aware of current business needs and will also be expected to plan for future needs as the healthcare market evolves.

This person will be seen as the expert on data sources within International, leveraging current experience and through working with suppliers to ensure robust knowledge of the available data sources, their strengths and weaknesses, We appreciate that there is a high level of complexity in understanding available secondary data sources across International markets and being able to effectively communicate meaningful analysis from these sources. Having the skills to source, analyse and communicate insights & recommendations effectively is vital.

Customers will range from colleagues in market research and forecasting up to senior management, responsible for brands Internationally. The ability to plan and organize analysis as well as to prioritize requests will be skills that are frequently employed.

There will be an expectation of strong collaboration with the Manager of Marketing Information, based in the US, to ensure that the most appropriate data sources are procured for the International business. This
Role will also be expected to collaborate with colleagues in forecasting, market research and P & R to ensure there is no duplication of data purchase and that functions are utilizing the best available data sources for their needs.

Where necessary, this position will be responsible for managing vendors and contractors who are engaged for support.

" Deep Understanding of secondary data sources across International markets
" Close links to the business to understand and meet secondary data needs
" Strong skills in data analysis and in the technical packages (Dataview, Excel) to ensure quick and effective data analysis
" Strong communication skills to prepare clear insights and recommendations to be shared with customers at different levels in the business
" Proactive approach to ensuring Shire have the best data sources for todays needs and in preparing Shire to meet their longer term goals
" Provide timely inputs to the Manager, Marketing Information to ensure clear transparency of data needs for International and to permit effective procurement discussions
" Maintain knowledge of Shire global products and markets.

20% of time:
Secondary data source evaluation, sourcing and vendor relationship management
" Identify core data needs and communicate this to the head of Marketing Information for budget planning
" Evaluate available data sources across International markets to understand strengths and weaknesses
" Stay up to date with changes in data sources and the implications for Shire. Develop good relationships with data providers to facilitate this
" Provide recommendations on the data sources to be purchased and where necessary, those we should stop buying
" When necessary, ensure effective communications and change management processes are in place with all customers.
" Work with line management to ensure appropriate prioritization of work aligned to business need
" Continually evaluate and monitor business conditions and adjust strategies accordingly.

35% of time:
Identifying customer needs and analyzing data
" Build strategic partnerships with customers/business to understand the business issues.
" Ensure business problems are well diagnosed and properly defined
" Be the expert in International data resources in order to drive efficiency and provide insights to key stakeholders
" Utilise analytical skills to analyse and interpret data in the most appropriate way to answer the business question
" Utilise effective communication approaches to help customers interpret and understand the data such that they are able to make informed business decisions
" Work closely with colleagues in GBICO to ensure delivery of integrated insights

35% of time:
Communication of insights and recommendation
" Provide insights and recommendations rather than data to business customers
" Be effective in communicating key points through verbal and written communication
" Through meeting/exceeding customer needs, ensure strong strategic partnerships are developed and furthered
" Prioritize all ad hoc delivery and serve as key contact for all data needs across Shire including advice on new data sources
" Ensure objectivity with assessments and solutions

10% of time:
Brand Planning & Data Interpretation
" Provide guidance and inputs to the Situational Analysis component of the brand plans
" Ensure the appropriate understanding and interpretation is applied to data sources utilized in the International and Country Brand Plans.Effectively collaborate among peers and customers within SP, GIBCO and the Business Units

Person Profile

" A Bachelor's degree is required, concentration in business, Economics, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Systems or other analytical/ business fields preferred;
" Minimum 4 years experience in sales/marketing operations/analytics
" Experience with Pharmaceutical Secondary data,,ex-US required
" Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry is required

" Ensure efforts are aligned and support organisational priorities
" Take action when appropriate to remove or change processes/data sources to ensure relevance
" Anticipate and address customers' long-term needs through a consultative approach
" Build long-term relationship as a credible point of contact whose advice and insights contributes to the customers' bottom line
