Business Development/Sales and Marketing Executive

Working in business development you'll be responsible for the generation and development of new opportunities, while managing and maintaining existing accounts with a view to grow the business.

Reporting:
The position reports to the Business Development Manager.

Location:
Mainly office based in Birmingham, although occasional travel to customer sites will be required.

Responsibilities:

- Identification of new business opportunities, and establishing new business relationships
- Presenting company to potential clients through direct communication in face to face meetings, telephone calls and emails
- Actively and successfully manage the sales process from lead generation to close
- Planning and preparing company presentations
- Communicating new products and services to new and existing customers
- Establishing and maintaining customer relationships
- Development of marketing literature
- Identify and conduct exercises such as direct marketing, and conference participation
- Providing management with market feedback, and written reports.
- Maintain and develop customer database

Skills/Competence:

- Proven success in sales ability and demonstrable knowledge of the sales process
- Understanding of the market and key competitors
- Ability to identify new business opportunities using relevant research tools, sector specific targeting and cold calling
- Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone
- To be ambitious and self-motivated, with enthusiasm, and drive directed towards sales growth
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Capable of working independently, and having responsibility as an individual
- Good negotiation skills and persuasiveness
- Experience in generation of marketing materials desirable.
- Previous experience in the organisation of exhibitions and other marketing activities
- Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information
- Strong client management skills
- A smart appearance and professional manner

Qualifications:

- Graduate (minimum) qualification in an appropriate science subject
- Advanced knowledge of protein chemistry
- Good market intelligence with respect to competitors
- Valid driving licence

Hours and Environment:
Usual office hours, Monday to Friday. However there may be call for extended working hours where sales and marketing activities dictate.
