Immunisation Scientist

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Immunisation Scientist working in the Protein & Chromatography department. You will be required to have a keen interest in developing and improving novel immunization strategies to support current and future antibody production, we are looking to hire an immunologist with academic or industrial experience in maximizing specificity and titre in mammalian antibody production. As part of this role you will be leading improvement strategies for immunisations aimed at increasing specificity and yield of antibodies. The successful candidate will be involved in:


Reviewing current immunization strategies

Identifying areas to improve yield and decrease non specific cross reaction

Targeting immune modulation and co-factors identify non-antigen methods of increasing yield

Establishing best practice approaches to adjuvant use

Clear experimental design with appropriate statistical rationales. Establish training materials and provide training to all scientific / technical

Interactive partnership and communication with manufacturing departments

Monitoring and communicating progress, and highlight delays or potential risks to projects and timelines to other senior staff.

Person Profile

Essential skills:
BSc Hons Degree in relevant discipline
Mres / Mphil or PhD
Proven track record in mammalian immunisations / polyclonal antibody production
Novel target antibodies
Polyclonal / monoclonal antibody immunization strategies
Experience in Biochemistry methods for antibody specificity / titire
Excellent communication (both written and verbal)

Scientific Communication (written and verbal)
Immunology experience
Antibody development
Protein biochemistry / Protein Purification
Excellent organisational skills
Good analytical skill
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Application of science within a commercial environment
To be flexible to the needs of the business
To have a methodical approach to project delivery
An understanding of the importance and role of Quality Assurance, such as the adherence to SOP and standardisation
