The GC/GCMS Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the continued growth of the organisations UK's GC and GCMS businesses by ensuring customer success with solutions.
This will be achieved by providing "Excellence in Science" when supporting customers across the UK. A high level of support will be provided to the Regional and Senior Business Specialists. The Technical Specialist will meet all company expectations for excellent support, as well as providing a constructive, collaborative interface between field sales colleagues, our customers, office colleagues and the UK Manager, GC/GCMS.
To ensure customer success with the organisations GC and GCMS solutions.
To support the pre and post Sales process to help the company achieve and exceed the Sales targets for the GC/GCMS product lines, providing, at all times, an exceptional level of support, technical excellence and superior product knowledge.
To present as the leading GC/GCMS solution supplier at external meetings.
To develop new applications in response to customer or market demand.
To maintain and grow a knowledge of competitor solutions and identify & promote the unique selling points of our own solutions.
Demonstrating technical leadership in the marketplace; to present the company as the leading GC/GCMS vendor in the UK.
Take the GC/GCMS tools and products which we manufacture and use them creatively to produce customer solutions.
Presenting Product and Application specific information at external conferences/meetings.
Supporting the UK Sales Team in providing technically accurate and application appropriate quotations in a timely manner.
Providing customer training and technical telephone support Post Installation to meet "Best in Class" standards.
Provide technical support for the Regional and Senior Business Specialists via joint customer visits.
Provide product and application specific training to the Sales Team.
Make field visits to existing Customers as well as prospective Customers in order ensure customer success, following the DAPA consultative sales approach.
Performing solution demonstrations in conjunction with appropriate Regional and Senior Business Specialists in the Evaluation Laboratory.
Provide support for transferring customer applications to hardware and running customer samples to support the Sales process.
Providing technically accurate and commercially appealing reports which prove the benefits of the solution from customer evaluation sample data
Ensuring work areas within the UK Evaluation Laboratory relating to the GC/GCMS product line are kept in a tidy and pristine condition.
Support sales with the creation of marketing material for both online and printed publications.

Job Specification
·Candidates should possess a minimum qualification of BSc in a relevant science subject, with a significant emphasis on chromatography/analytical chemistry
·Strong preference is given for significant experience in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry gained in a commercial/instrument manufacturer role
·Demonstrable deep understanding of the theory and practice of GC, GCMS, GCMSMS and GCxGC(MS).
·Sound understanding of software systems
·Sound understanding of specialised detectors such as ECD, TCD, NPD, FPD, PDHID
·Sound understanding of the use of a wide range of sample introduction techniques such as liquid and headspace autosamplers, pyrolysers, thermal desorbers, gas sampling valves etc.
·Good awareness of competitor's hardware and software.
·Effective and demonstrable interpersonal skills.
·A highly motivated approach to technical sales with a strong will to succeed
·An ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision.
·A current, clean UK driving license and passport.
·Willingness to travel and spend a significant amount of time away from home, including European travel when required (to Germany for training in the main)
