Role Overview

Function
The function of the Sales Specialist is to enhance sales growth for the Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) and Raman product lines by playing an effective part in the UK sales team in continually generating substantial new business.

To develop a defined sales territory so that it generates new business on a continually increasing basis To seek out, qualify, follow up and progress sales leads to successful conclusion

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Duties
Job duties will include the following tasks specific to the objectives:

Objective 1
Work with the Sales Manager to develop a business plan with clear objectives and initiatives for the territory Assist with the organisation of and attendance at product road shows, scientific meetings, conferences and exhibitions

Objective 2
Seek out potential purchasers in all areas of industry and academia in a defined territory
Professionally present convincing commercial and technical sales arguments with integrity in highly competitive situations
Tenaciously follow up sales opportunities with a determined commitment to achieve success
Take responsibility for the complete project sales cycle from initiation through to completion
Organise eye-opening instrument demonstrations
Maintain the Company's customer relationship management database for the territory to an acceptable standard
Visit factory sites for product training, seminars, and customer demonstrations


Reporting
The position reports to the Country Manager, who will agree expectations, offer guidance in individual cases and provide framework support. Close co-operation and teamwork is required with colleagues in Coventry and at Bruker sites in Europe. Accurate record keeping and timely submission of documentation is pre-requisite. Regular reporting in writing and by personal attendance at our Coventry office form part of the job duties.

Territory and Products
The sales area is nominally the South of the UK . The limits of the sales area are subject to change in line with market trends. Nominally, all Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) and Raman products are included, but certain products may be excluded, and other products may be included if deemed appropriate by the Company.


Location
The position is based at a location that is conveniently suited to the sales territory and that is satisfactory to the Company for the efficient and effective development of the territory.

To carry out the duties to the level expected, the minimum competencies are:

Ability to operate alone and to meet ambitious but achievable targets, particularly with regard to sales figures and call rates
Self-discipline and the ability to decide priorities in a rapidly changing commercial environment

The personality of a natural team player, willing and able to build confidence and to establish co-operative relationships with personnel throughout the Company
A very high standard of personal presentation
Qualifications
Graduate (minimum) qualification in an appropriate science or engineering subject
Good knowledge of spectroscopy
Clear understanding of the UK academic and industrial markets, together with a proven track record of working with technology-based products in those markets
Good market intelligence with respect to competitive products and vendors
High standard of spoken and written English
Current valid driving licence with a maximum of six penalty points
No visa disqualification from the USA or EU
Skills and Experience
Proven track record in interaction with customers involving scientific instrument products in industry and academia
Commercial acumen and the ability to promote a technical solution as a value for money exercise
Direct customer-facing experience
Computer literacy, especially with regard to modern scientific user interfaces, document and presentation preparation and report writing
Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken
