Field Service Engineer

Instrumentation includes automated systems and multimode detection instruments, used in academic/research and hospital laboratories.

An exciting opportunity to work for a well-established scientific company who are a market leader in manufacturing high end laboratory equipment used in hospital and research laboratories for healthcare drug development and diagnostic testing.

The role is available due to business growth, working alongside 1 other Service Engineer in the UK.
The UK commercial team sits at around 50 staff and they have an impressive office & R&D facility within the UK.

Suitable for a Service Engineer with experience working on laboratory equipment!

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in pre- and post-sales support, installation, instrument preventive maintenance, repair and service support.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships, through excellent communication skills.
- Recommend improvements to equipment installation and operational qualification test plans and protocols in accordance with design requirements, operational needs, and applicable standards.
- Manage information on specific technical hardware / software / system performance related issues to determine root cause, identify alternatives, and implement a solution with the wider technical team.
- Forecast and maintain instrument spare parts inventory and manage parts stocking and availability.
-- Attend meetings, seminars and customer site visits, requiring domestic travel (up to 75% of the time). Travel to the UK office in Southampton 3-4 times per month, so applicants living within a couple of hours from there would be ideally located.

Person Specification:
- Bachelor's degree in scientific or engineering discipline, or relevant electro-mechanical qualification (minimum level 3).
- 2 or more years of hands-on laboratory instrumentation support experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, customer-focused, reliable, results orientated, flexible, and energetic.
- Computer experience using programs including, but not limited to, Windows, Word, Excel, as well as Customer Relationship Management and Enterprise Resource Planning systems. In addition, ability to learn and use new programs as needed. Experience with Internet technology also desirable.
- Prior experience working in a field instrument service organization.
- Experience working in a cGMP, ISO 9000, and/or ISO 13485 environment is preferred.
